Secretary of State endorses the UK / China Animation Forum

Ahead of the upcoming Forum in Beijing I’m delighted that the project has received official Government endorsement. Jeremy Hunt MP, Secretary of State for Culture, Olympics, Media & Sport has provided the statement below in support of the project, for inclusion in the marketing materials we are preparing for use in China:

“China is now the world’s second largest economy and a key international trade partner for the UK Government. It has a strong tradition of animation production and a rapidly growing mobile and online market, which is hungry for new content and ideas.

As a world leader in animation the UK is renowned for the quality of its creative production, from 2D to CGI, TV to Computer Games. UK children’s programmes, such as Aardman’s “Shaun the Sheep” and BBC’s “In The Night Garden”, are now airing in China, but this is only the tip of the iceberg in terms of the potential for collaboration between the two nations.

The UK / China Animation Forum is a chance for UK businesses to generate advantageous new partnerships, and new revenues, by gaining insight and experience of the opportunities within China first hand.

I am delighted that UK Trade & Investment and screen agency partners, have come together to enable this initiative and we give it our wholehearted support.

I look forward to learning of the results and to this being one of many creative business links between China and the UK.”
