Barcelona / Austin / Atlanta / Helsinki

OK – so the last thing on the to-do list is your own website….

Since the last post here I have been in Barcelona, Austin, Atlanta and Helsinki (and actually I haven’t put up latest progress in Guimaraes, Portugal either). The quick way out would just be to post pictures of meals I have eaten – and in Texas that really is a sight to see – but instead I’ll do a quick summary and promise to be more diligent in the future.

Barcelona – Mobile World Congress was a demonstration of a market which is expanding. Cloud applications, mobile commerce and tablets everywhere, along with a huge Chinese presence with Huawei and ZTE.

Austin – SxSW Interactive made sense as soon as the sun came out but I fear has lost the sense of a shared communal experience of years past as it is now 20k+ people over multiple venues. Highlights were Japanese interactive artists Rhizomatiks, Al Gore & Sean parker in conversation and band Future of the Left.

Atlanta – En route back a two day stop in Atlanta for some great conversations with US companies looking at the UK market and a quick spin round Georgia Tech’s media innovation department.

Helsinki – I presented to an event at the British Embassy on Uk Creative industries and was particularly inspired by fellow speakers from Finnish fashion institution Marimekko – a fabulous exploration of how the culture and values of a company inform its output and development.

Next stop Los Angeles next week – and some great announcements on Guimaraes 2012 Open City project programme to come (and food pictures to Flickr site shortly…).
