To Munich to host a CEO Dinner organized by Vertical Media, part of a regular series which brings together a very senior gathering of German digital media CEO’s and a variety of European (and US) investors.
There was a lot of talk about how whilst the key start-ups in Germany (and Berlin in particular) were still focused on e-commerce, the previous tendency towards US copycats has dropped away. And whilst Berlin gets the attention there were some considerable companies coming out of Munich.
The brave shiny new start up industry has its own lingua franca, but there is a touch of “The Graduate” about conversations with investors at the moment – they are all looking for “data”, or preferably “big data”…. (better, obviously)
